Description

Henry Knox

Revolutionary War general and founder of the military school that became West Point (1750–1806). ALS signed “H. Knox,” one page both sides, 8 x 9.75, February 9, 1800. Letter to General Harry Jackson in which he casts blame on “the hard hearted Gorham’s execution” for his own inability to pay an outstanding debt. Docketing on the reverse in another hand reads: “Feby 9. 1800, Letter from H. Knox.” In fine to very good condition, with partial edge separations to intersecting folds (one horizontal fold passing through the bottom of the signature), scattered light creasing, a stray ink mark to left edge, a uniform block of toning to reverse, and show-through from writing to opposing sides. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
