Description

Duke Kahanamoku

Hawaiian swimmer and actor (1890–1968) credited with spreading the sport of surfing. DS, signed “Duke P. Kahanamoku,” one page, 8.25 x 17, May 29, 1928. Standard artist’s contract between Kahanamoku and Samuel Goldwyn, Inc., in which he agrees to “render services…in the character of Jaffir, in the motion picture the working title of which is now ‘Production No. 17.’” Expected document wear and a few small edge tears, otherwise fine condition. Based on Joseph Conrad’s novel The Rescue, this film was ultimately released in 1929 under the same name. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
