Description

Adolphe Quetelet

Belgian astronomer, mathematician, statistician, and sociologist (1796–1874). ALS in French, signed “Quetelet,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.25 x 8.25, Academie Royale letterhead, September 7, 1859. Untranslated letter replying to a letter he received about the international decimal system. In very good condition, with scattered soiling, creasing to corners, show-through from writing to opposing sides, and small edge tears. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
