Emperor Ferdinand I

Member of the House of Habsburg (1503–1564) who ruled as Holy Roman Emperor from 1558 until his death, a reign characterized by conflict with the Ottoman Empire and wars of religion between Catholics and Protestants. Vellum manuscript DS, signed “Ferdinand,” one page, 14.5 x 12, no date. Untranslated document regarding the pardon of a convicted murderer. Partial separations to intersecting folds (a vertical separation passing through the first letter of the signature), moderate foxing and soiling, and circular areas of toning from seals, otherwise very good condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
