Robert Treat Paine

Massachusetts lawyer (1731–1814) who served as one of the prosecutors of British soldiers during the Boston Massacre trial; he later signed the Declaration of Independence. Endorsement signature, “Paine,” at the conclusion of a manuscript legal document, one page, 3.75 x 6.25, dated August 1769. A bill for legal costs amounting to £1.16.0. A central vertical fold, light toning, and mirroring to ink from a page no longer present, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
