ADS, signed “R. B. Taney, Attorney for the plaintiff” one page, 8 x 13, no date but circa July 1804. Taney pens a legal document for the case of Ansley Stewart vs. John McLaine. In part: “And whereas the said Ansley by R. B. Taney his attorney complains that the said John…with force and arms that is to say with swords clubs knives and fists made an assault on him the said Ansley and…did then and there beat wound and evilly treat so that his life was greatly despaired of.” In addition to the signature at the conclusion, Taney incorporates his name once in the main text, and again in an endorsement on the docketing panel. In very good condition, with partial separations to horizontal folds, scattered toning and soiling, and some mirroring to ink. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
