Description

Norman Mailer

TLS signed “Norman,” one page, 8.5 x 11, May 5, 1969. Letter to his editor, Ned Bradford, in part: “All in all, I think it’s just as well that Little, Brown and Co. isn’t doing the book on the Mayoralty campaign. I hear Doubleday actually plans it for their Anchor series, and it may even turn out to be a fairly good book since we have a great many ideas about how the cities might best function. Still, all the writing for it is obviously going to be done at great speed and under pressures which aren’t particularly creative. So there’s always the danger of delivering a non–book, and that certainly is no way for us to begin.” Mailer adds two handwritten corrections to the text. Collector’s notation “(Mailer)” in black ink immediately after the signature. In fine condition, with a stray vertical ink mark through first few lines of text. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
