Letter to Gustave Geffroy, the director of the Manufacture Nationale des Gobelins, in full (translated): “Do you want to support the sale of the sculpture of Lagare to the commission of the State? This sculpture seems to me to be an effort that could be encouraged. He would like to have your appreciation of his work and asks you to receive him.” Matted to an overall size of 12 x 14.75, with a window on the reverse for viewing the original mailing envelope, addressed in Rodin’s hand.
