Czech painter and graphic artist (1871–1957) who was a prominent figure in establishing the early phases of the abstract art movement and Orphic cubism. ALS in French, signed “Kupka,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.5 x 7, October 7, 1924. Letter to Mr. and Mrs. d’Allendy, in part: “Finally decided to go out in public, in other words to show as a whole all my endeavors oriented towards an art based upon more clear and coherent conceptions. I will be very happy to see again with you some of those canvases that I hope will exercise a salutary influence, and those others that we may have to put aside. It is not a question of a personal art but more to make clear the principle itself of plastic art.” In fine condition, with most of the writing a shade light. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
