Spectacular flown American flag carried to the moon on Apollo 12, 17 x 11.75, affixed to a 20 x 16 presentation mount signed below the flag in black ballpoint and felt tip, “Charles Conrad,” “Dick Gordon,” “Al Bean,” and “Richard Gordon, Apollo XII CMP,” who adds, “This flag was carried to the Lunar surface for me by my dear friends and crewmates, Pete Conrad and Alan Bean.” In fine condition, with light toning to vertical edges of flag from tape to reverse, and a small block of toned adhesive remnant in the center of the lower border of the mount from a previous plaque affixment. Accompanied by three photos of Gordon taken at the time of signing. A hugely impressive and atypically large flown flag which, in addition to the thirty-one hours it spent on the lunar surface, is further enhanced by Gordon’s affectionate inscription.
