Hans Pfitzner

Self-proclaimed ‘anti-modernist’ German composer (1869–1949), best known for his opera Palestrina, based on the life of the famed sixteenth-century composer. Matte-finish 7.75 x 7.75 photo of Pfitzner looking contemplative, affixed to its original 12 x 16 mount, signed and inscribed on the mount in German in fountain pen, and dated February 1927. Also signed on the mount in pencil by the photographer. Several significant tears to the mount, chipping to edges, paper loss to mount corners, and silvering to dark areas of the image, otherwise very good condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
