King Wilhelm I

King of Prussia (born 1797) from 1861 and first emperor of Germany from 1871 until his death in 1888. LS in German, signed “Wilhelm R,” one page, 9 x 11.25, February 8, 1866. Letter to Herwarth von Bittenfeld, governor of Magdeburg. Wilhelm offers thanks for long-term services and adds "a particularly gracious acknowledgment of" the Grand Cross of the House Order of Hohenzollern. In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds. Accompanied by Herwarth’s personal calling card. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
