American actor and author (1791–1852) who achieved theatrical success in London, best remembered as the creator of the song ‘Home! Sweet Home!’ in 1822. ALS, one page, 8 x 10.25, June 1, 1845. Letter to George M. Fowle, in part: “About the same time you reached me, a few lines came from Samuel M. Miller of Edgarton, Massachusetts. He stated that he was all ready for a voyage, and only delayed till he could receive information which he sought from me. I have sent him by the present conveyance a full detail of every thing which it can be of importance for him to know about business and business prospects.” Some tiny partial separations to intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature), scattered slight soiling, and small edge tears, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by the hand-addressed portion of the integral address leaf, neatly trimmed and removed from the letter. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
