Uncommon war-dated mailing envelope from August 1918, 6.5 x 4.25, addressed in Rickenbacker’s hand to “Mrs. John Burton” in Los Angeles, signed in the lower left with his censorship signature, “E. Rickenbacker,” and in the return address area, “E. Rickenbacker, Air Service A. E. F.” Overall soiling, otherwise fine condition. At the time this was sent, Rickenbacker was recuperating in a Paris hospital before returning to the front in September to shoot down more German planes. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
