Description

William Wilberforce

British politician, evangelist and philanthropist (1759–1833) who played an important role in the movement to abolish slavery. Ink signature, “I am, madam, yr faithful servt, W. Wilberforce,” on an off-white 3.5 x 2.25 slip clipped from the closing of a letter, with a collector’s date notation of 1821 to the lower left. In fine condition, with a central horizontal fold passing through one line of the closing sentiment and trivial show-through from writing to the opposing side. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
