Panamanian police chief and politician (1908–1955) who served as president of Panama from 1952 until his mysterious assassination in 1955, when he came under machine gun fire at a racetrack. Rare glossy 4.75 x 7.25 photo of Remon dressed in distinguished formal attire, signed in the lower right in fountain pen and dated 1954. Reverse bears an official ink stamp. In very good condition, with moderate scattered creases and toned tape remnants to edges. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. The identity of Remon’s assassin and the reasoning behind it remain unresolved to this day, resulting in several conspiracy theories—though it may have been a simple internal coup, one theory holds that it was a CIA hit due to his interference in Panama canal negotiations, while another claims that he was killed on the orders of Lucky Luciano over a dispute involving a seized shipment of heroin.
