King William IV

King of Great Britain and Ireland (1765–1837) from 1830 to 1837, he earned the sobriquet ‘Sailor King’ for his youthful service in the Royal Navy. ALS signed “William,” one page, 7.25 x 9, January 18, 1828. In part: “I am glad to perceive Your Lordship agrees with me so entirely in sentiment—respecting the merits of Captain Usher as an Officer…However I must call Your Lordship’s view to the superior knowledge and activity of Sr. James Gordon that he is really lost where he now is and I believe him in every respect perfectly qualified to take charge of a Dock Yard.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature). Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
