George H. Thomas

Union general (1816–1870) whose most decisive victory earned him the sobriquet ‘Rock of Chickamauga.’ War-dated manuscript DS, signed “Geo. H. Thomas,” one page, 3.5 x 5.25, November 4, 1863. Document issued from the headquarters of the Department of the Cumberland at Chattanooga. In full: “Resp’y forwarded to the Adjutant General of the Army Washington D.C. Disapproved at this time.” A vertical fold to the right edge, chipping to edges, and light soiling, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by an unsigned CDV-style portrait. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
