Description

Oscar Levant

Pianist, radio personality, and author (1906–1972) perhaps best remembered for his autobiography, Memoirs of an Amnesiac. Unusual AMS in pencil, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, date notation of 1937. Levant pens a brief yet intriguing passage. In full: “California has a capital C. I hope I don’t become too conscious in writing this. I sometimes write for a brief moment in a rather lucid way then I disintegrate—this is a strain and the word disintegrate is too tempting. Christ.” In very good condition, with several intersecting folds (many passing through letters of the signature) and scattered creases. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
