Boston-based printer, lithographer, and publisher (1824–1909) considered the ‘father of the American Christmas card.’ Uncommon matte-finish 7.5 x 9.25 portrait of Prang by Elmer Chickering of Boston, affixed to its original 10 x 12 photographer’s mount, signed and inscribed on the reverse in black ink, “To my dear dear daughter, Louis Prang, Nov. 12, 1895.” In very good condition, with overall creases (significant creases to lower portion), edge dings, and staining.
