Hardcover logbook from the USS Fargo, 7 x 9.5, with the entries dated from February 10, 1948, to October 28, 1949, signed inside by over 1,000 passengers and visitors to the ship at various ports of call including Cannes, Genoa, Gibraltar, Malta, Athens, Napoli, and other locations. A USS Fargo bookplate is affixed to the first free end page, with “Ambassador Wadsworth,” written along the bottom of the bookplate. Signed in fountain pen, “Edward,” on a page labeled at the top in another hand, “Cannes 31 August.” Other notable signers include: Mountbatten of Burma (2), King Paul of Greece, Vice Admiral Algernon Willis, General Sir Kenneth Anderson, Brigadier General William A. Matheny, General Ridgely Gaither, General James van Fleet, and Senator John H. Simms. In fine condition, with some light toning to pages, a couple of detached pages, and some wear and rubbing to the leather covers. Named for the city of Fargo, North Dakota, the Cleveland-class cruiser was commissioned in 1945 and saw several tours of duty in the Mediterranean before being decommissioned in 1950. RR Auction COA.
