Description

The Moody Blues nearly play at Woodstock

DS, signed “Michael Lang,” one page, 8.5 x 11, June 25, 1969. Zell Enterprises International, Inc. contract between Umbrella Management Ltd. and Woodstock Ventures for the Moody Blues to play at the “Woodstock Pop Festival, Woodstock, New York, on Sunday evening, August 17, 1969.” The band was to play “One show of approximately 45 minutes between the hours of 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM,” in exchange for a flat rate of $5,000. Signed at the conclusion by Michael Lang, a concert promoter who co-created the Woodstock Music & Art Festival. Contract remains unsigned by the band’s management, as they never accepted. While the Moody Blues were advertised on the original Wallkill poster as performers, they backed out after being booked in Paris the same weekend. Two horizontal folds, moderate scattered creases, and staple holes and a small tear to the upper right corner, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by an unsigned rider for the contract and two original unsigned publicity photos of the band. RR Auction COA.
