Description

Henry McCullough

ALS signed “Henry,” three pages, 5.25 x 7.25, no date, but postmarked July 1965. Letter to Mick Cox, Elvis Costello’s guitarist. In part: “Just a few lines at the minute as we are going on about fifteen minutes…The guitarist with the ‘big 4’ didn’t influence my lead playing in the sense of him being a fantastic player (lead wise). When we played together he was great inspiration when it came to a solo…When I started in bands, I honestly didn’t have a clue. I was so mesmerized with the whole scene I didn’t care about what I was like. I sort of bluffed my way into the ‘Skyrockets’…I used to practice by myself, until I became in a way good enough so no one could say, ‘What a shit guitar player.’ I then stopped practice and haven’t done any since.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in McCullough’s hand. In fine condition. RR Auction COA.
