Charles Mingus

DS, signed in pencil “Charles Mingus, Jr.,” and signed again “Charles Mingus,” one page, 8.5 x 11, April 16, 1947. Musicians Protective Association claim form, filled out in pencil by Mingus. Claim is against Lou LeRoy and his club for an amount of $12.00. In the remarks area Mingus writes, “Appeared to work on job, In bass player place. Willie Price management ordered no one to work.” Under his remarks, a finding is written in another hand which states, “Board denied claim.” In fine condition, with a tear to top edge and some scattered creases. Provenance: The Larry Rafferty Collection. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.
