Description

Jackie presents a newly-minted JFK half-dollar to David Powers

Crisp ink presentation signature and inscription for David Powers, “For Dave, with love, Jackie, Christmas 1964,” on a 5 x 3.5 black-bordered card; and a gift John F. Kennedy half-dollar, housed in a wedge of Lucite, with a facsimile copy of the above signature and inscription incorporated into the Lucite. In fine condition, with scattered surface marks and scratches to Lucite. Powers served as John F. Kennedy’s special assistant, and went on to curate the John F. The Kennedy half-dollar was first minted in 1964 as a tribute to the assassinated president, giving this gift special meaning as a presentation from his widow to one of his most trusted and loyal friends.
