Guy Carleton, 1st Baron Dorchester (1724–1808) was an Anglo-Irish soldier who served as governor general of British North America and commanded troops during the American Revolution. Partly-printed DS, signed “Dorchester,” one page, 7.75 x 12.5, June 21, 1787. Pay order directing Thomas Boone to “Pay or cause to be Paid unto Bryce McCumming Pay Master to His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot, or to his Assigns, without deduction, the Sum of Five Hundred Eighty one Pounds Ten Shillings and Eight Pence.” In very good condition, with small edge separations at horizontal storage folds and some staining and paper loss to the top edge.
