Union general (1807–1864) who commanded a division at Gettysburg and was killed in action at the Battle of the Wilderness. Ink signature, “Jas. S. Wadsworth,” on an off-white 2.5 x 1 slip, with his rank written below, affixed at the bottom of a 6.75 x 9.25 engraved portrait of Wadsworth with his horse. In fine condition, with closely cropped edges trivially affecting the top of the signature.
