TLS signed “Joan,” one page, 6.25 x 10, personal letterhead, January 11, 1954. Letter to director George Cukor. In part: “I’ve thanked you already, as you know, for my beautiful, beautiful scarf. My babies are just a little bit too young to thank you for their exquisitely beautiful painted baskets with all the candy canes, the (if you’ll excuse the expressions) nuts, the glace mints, the two boxes of marzipan, the lime drops, the barley sugar drops, the noel candy, and the chocolate money! Well…so they want to be in the picture business…they liked the money the best! Dear girls and boys! We had a very hectic Christmas, George; with Christopher with the virus and throwing up every five minutes. He’s the cutest little guy you ever saw in your life—even throwing up.” In fine condition. A nice letter demonstrating Cukor’s generosity toward his friends and collaborators, highlighted by Crawford’s humorous jab at the bankrolls supporting the motion picture industry.
