ALS in French, one onionskin page, 8 x 9.75, July 11, 1945. Neatly penned letter to Reverend Leonard Helie in Roxbury, Massachusetts, with Schweitzer adding a second signature, “Dr. A. S. Schweitzer,” at the top of the page in the return address area. In part (translated): “Thanks for your nice letter…with the information on the new treatment of leprosy. You’ve provided me a big service with this dispatch. We’re looking to be up to date in the progress made in the treatment of leprosy to help benefit our poor sickly. I just wrote to Prof. Skillings who is largely responsible for the gifts from the USA for my 70 years that makes CHEVITAL sheltered from a famine.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds and a small hole to blank portion of top edge.
