A weighted sterling silver jug from the 1927 Motion Picture Golf Tournament, standing 8.25″ high, and engraved on one side, “Presented by Howard R. Hughes.” Bottom of the base is stamped “Made by Sedlacek & Co. Sterling, Los Angeles.” Expected moderate tarnishing and a few small dents, otherwise fine condition. Hughes entered the film industry in 1927, and at that time was an avid golfer, sporting a three handicap and playing with the likes of Gene Sarazen. Some of Hughes’s business deals were settled over a round of golf, including the hiring of Howard Hawks to direct Scarface. A rare memento linking the billionaire to one of his earliest passions.
