American neoclassical sculptor (1805-1873). ALS, one page both sides, 5.25 x 8.5, April 23, 1873. Letter to James Stewart thanking him for a letter “so…complimentary to my friend Mr. Ball and to myself” and notes, “I could hardly resist the temptation to call on Mr. Ball at once and let him read the good things you have said of him. But then how could I stand by as he looked…while reading my share of the article?” In fine condition, with a bit of scattered light toning and a few small tape repairs along horizontal folds. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
