President Roosevelt’s personally-owned copy of African Game Trails by Theodore Roosevelt. Later printing. NY: Syndicate Publishing Company, 1910. Hardcover, 7 x 9.5, 583 pages. The book bears FDR’s truly scarce personal bookplate affixed to the half-title page, featuring an image of an anchor with his full name in a banner below, “Franklin Delano Roosevelt.” A wonderful association between these presidential icons and distant cousins. A book bearing such an uncommon personal FDR bookplate, and relating to the only other Roosevelt to hold the title of president of the United States is a desirable combination indeed.
