In full: “Your favor inviting me to deliver the address at Gettysburgh [sic] on Decoration Day has been rec’d, and I regret that another engagement made sometime since will prevent my acceptance.” Matted and framed with a portrait of Slocum in uniform to an overall size of 20.5 x 15.5.
