Marvin Gaye

Popular soul and R&B singer-songwriter (1939–1984) who was one of Motown’s most successful artists during the label’s heyday in the 1960s and 1970s, recording such hits as ‘How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)’ and ‘I Heard It Through the Grapevine.’ A day before his 45th birthday, Gaye was shot and killed by his father during an argument over a business matter. Vintage Motor Town Revue program from 1965, 9.25 x 12.25, featuring images and biographies of the performers, including Gaye, Martha and the Vandellas, and the Four Tops. Signed on the front cover in blue ballpoint, “Best wishes & Lots of Luck, Sincerely, Marvin Gaye ‘65.’” In very good condition, with scattered light creases and wear to covers, a bit of scattered toning to a couple of inside pages, and expected mild handling wear.
