Description

William H. Seward

ALS, one page, 7.75 x 9.75, March 27, 1847. Letter to a college treasurer to whom Seward submitted his bills, which were apparently protested as too high. In part: “But if the College is in your judgment more needy than I you may draw through Clarence on his return for the three bills or such part of them as you think right…Do what you find necessary and I shall be satisfied, I regret exceedingly the embarrassment attending your appropriation bills.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, and a bit of scattered light foxing. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
