TLS as president, one page, 6.75 x 9, White House letterhead, May 18, 1959. Ike responds to Mrs. Grant L. Brunner of West Lawn, Pennsylvania, who saw Eisenhower as he was leaving his farm in Gettysburg. In full: “Thank you for your heartwarming letter. I do, of course, feel a deep sense of gratification, even humility, that so many people, like yourself, are willing to go to considerable personal inconvenience just to wave a greeting to Mrs. Eisenhower and me. We appreciate the spirit of friendship that prompted you to wait just outside the gate as we left our Gettysburg home a week or so ago. I wish we could have spoken personally to you.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and a photocopy of Brunner’s original letter to Eisenhower. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
