President Truman’s personally-owned burgundy silk neck tie with an interesting blue and gray floral design, measuring 52″ long. A small tag reading “Countess Mara, New York,” is sewn inside the thick end. Includes a detailed letter of provenance on White House letterhead from White House door man Carl W. Ferguson. In part: “One day I was in the Oval Office with President Truman when he pulled out this necktie and asked me if I would like to have it. It is a beautiful burgundy tie with a nice design…The President told me to be sure and wear the burgundy tie and not just store it away. However, I never felt like I should be wearing a silk tie intended for the President of the United States.” In excellent condition. Also accompanied by a photo of White House doorman Carl W. Ferguson. An historic relic of some magnitude, having been owned and worn by one of America’s greatest presidents.
