Innovative and highly regarded jazz pianist (1929–1980) who worked briefly with Miles Davis before forming his own trio in the late 1950s. Evans’s influence as a keyboard artist has been acknowledged by the likes of Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and Keith Jarrett. Plagued by a decades-long struggle with hepatitis and drug addition, Evans died at the age of 51.
