Original signed and inscribed full-length ink sketch of Rosie in a long dress, boa, and hat on an off-white 8.5 x 11 sheet, with a word balloon coming from Rosie which reads, “Hello Paul, Rosie and M. Sendak,” and dated at the bottom by Sendak, “Aug. 76.” In fine condition, with a couple small edge tears and creases and a bit of scattered mild foxing. The Sign on Rosie's Door was written in 1960, centered around an outgoing little girl who used to sing and dance on the stoop of her building. Sendak sketches—particularly those of his better-known characters, including Rosie—are uncommon and always desirable. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
