Description

Alberto Ginastera

Important Argentine composer (1916–1983) who grouped his music into three periods: ‘Objective Nationalism,’ ‘Subjective Nationalism,’ and ‘Neo-Expressionism.’ TLS, one onionskin page, 9 x 11.25, personal letterhead, February 28, 1963. Letter to Joseph Levine, music director and conductor of the Omaha Symphony Orchestra. In part: “I also remember with pleasure our encounter here in Buenos Aires so many years ago…I am sending you immediately the notes for the program hoping they will arrive in time. I would like very much to receive more news after the performance of ‘Estancia’ with a program and reviews because I have the pleasure to keep as a souvenir all the programs I can get from performances of my works.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature) and some creasing to edges. Accompanied by a letter from his wife, Mercedes, mentioning a few of his works. RR Auction COA.
