Nelson’s custom-made stage and screen-worn jacket. Black satin-jacket single-breasted jacket is heavily embossed with rhinestones on the front, back, collar, and cuffs, done in a pattern of a vertical vine with green leaves. Accompanied by correspondence from Nelson’s wife Kristen, as well as his daughter Tracy. A message from Kristen states, in part: “These are some of Rick’s show clothes. They were designed for him around the time Stone Canyon Band was formed (1969) and he was doing many personal appearances…I know the black satin jacket with the leaves was [his] idea and design. It was made for Rick in honor of ‘Garden party’ being his first really huge [hit] in a long time. It would be reasonable to assume that the jacket was made for him to wear [in] the ‘Garden Party’ video but I can’t be positive.” Also included is a notarized letter of provenance from Tracy Nelson for “1 black satin jacket with rhinestones flower motif. Very beautiful. 1972,” as well as a photo of Nelson in the jacket and a video of a 1973 Petrocelli episode featuring a performance by Nelson wearing the jacket. In fine condition. RR Auction COA.
