TLS, one page, 8.25 x 11.5, May 19, 1995. Letter to Thomas Smith, in part: “For reasons I won’t go into here, your nice letter of March 28, 1995 has only just come into my hands. The month of May is half over, and perhaps you have already celebrated your wife’s birthday—but in the hope that it will still serve your purpose I am enclosing a small autographed photo of Melanie, together with the two cards you sent me for my signature.” Also included is an off-white 5 x 3 card, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint, “For Melanie, Every good wish, from Olivia de Havilland, another Melanie.” Both are in fine condition, with intersecting mailing folds to letter, barely touching two letters of signature, and mild creasing, mostly to corners. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, bearing a Paris postmark. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
