Evelyn Nesbit

Popular American actress and and artists’ model (1884–1967) whose relationship with architect Stanford White caused her jealous husband to murder him on the rooftop of Madison Square Garden in 1906, spawning the ‘Trial of the Century.’ Vintage matte-finish 5 x 7 three-quarter-length Ritz Studio portrait of Nesbit with her hands on her hips, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Dorothy, Sincerely, Evelyn Nesbit, 1922.” In fine condition, with scattered silvering to dark areas of the image and a mild crease to the lower right. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
