Very rare original ticket, 6.5 x 3.5, to “the formal premier of East of Eden,” at New York’s Astor Theatre on March 9, 1955. Ticket has a $50.00 price on it as the showing was a benefit for the Actors Studio; and an original 28 x 22 half-sheet color poster for East of Eden, proclaiming James Dean “in his very first picture—a very special star!” Ticket is in very good to fine condition, with a central vertical crease to ticket, as well as a punch hole and some light soiling; poster is very good, with paper loss and dampstaining to lower right corner, some light creases and soiling, and a small tear to left edge. Presented as a benefit for the Actor's Studio, several famous students and alumni served as ushers and ticket takers, including Marilyn Monroe and Eva Marie Saint.
