Collection of seven scrapbooks, originally owned by the president of the Elvis Presley fan club, with candid photos of Presley and numerous newspaper articles and clipped photos. The collection is highlighted by approximately 340 candid photos housed in three albums, mostly color, most of an older Presley on stage at various venues. Photos include Elvis in various jumpsuits and capes; interacting with band members as well as members of the audience; Elvis playing guitar; and several photos of Graceland after Presley’s passing, including one of a woman posing with Elvis’s father at a gift shop in Memphis. Remaining three albums are full of newspaper articles and photos, as well as other clipped and souvenir photos, with most of the clippings and photos from tabloid stories printed after his death, including the controversial photo of Presley in his coffin, printed in the National Enquirer in 1977. Other articles focus on Presley’s last days, his affected fans, Presley’s childhood, and many other topics. Also included is an original front section of the August 17, 1977, special edition of the Memphis Press-Scimitar. An impressive and lovingly comprised collection, teaming with original, never-before-seen photos of the rock and roll legend. RR Auction COA.
