Important Italian composer (1792–1868) who became one of the seminal figures in the history of opera with such repertoire staples as The Barber of Seville and William Tell. Rare vintage 2 x 3.5 photo, affixed to a 4.25 x 6.25 mount, engraved in French, (translated): “February 10, 1868 / 500th Performance of William Tell / Grateful Remembrance,“ and inscribed in another hand to “Mr. Houstache,” and signed at the bottom, “G.
