Description

Improving his letter with an original sketch to compete with “Presidents, Kings and Queens”

Artist and writer (1892–1942) best known for his work on the American West. ALS signed “Will James ’29,” one page, 7 x 10.25, August 29, 1929. Letter to a collector. In full: “Thanks for your good letter—I am sending you my autograph but it being so humble I don’t know how it will fit in with those Presidents, Kings and Queens which you have, so I thought I’d add on a sketch.” At the bottom of the page, James has added a nice ink sketch of a horse. Scattered creases, otherwise fine condition. RR Auction COA.
