Trail-marking flag “used in sledging operations at Little America, Antarctica, in 1933–35”

Original trail flag fabric, 11 x 10.5, signed and inscribed on an affixed label in black felt tip, “Trail flag, used to mark dog sledging route out of Little America, Antarctica. BAE II 1933–5, Alton A. Lindsey, for Mary Campbell.” Also signed and inscribed on the transmittal envelope in black felt tip, “Trail-marking flag (bamboo staff not included) used in sledging operations at Little America, Antarctica, in 1933–35. For Mary Campbell, compliments of: Alton A. Lindsay, Ph.D., Vertebrate Zoologist, Byrd Antarctic Expedition II.” In overall fine condition, with expected wear and fraying to flag. RR Auction COA.
