Duplicate copy of a letter addressed to the Citizen Directors of the Ligurian Republic. In part: “The President of the United States of America having been pleased to nominate and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to appoint, Frederick H. Wollaston Esquire, their Consul for the Port of Genoa…I have the honor to request you to admit Mr. Wollaston to the exercise of his Consular functions.” Cloth-matted and framed with a portrait of Pickering and a biographical plaque to an overall size of 24 x 19.5.
