Burr defends the interest of an infant’s inheritance during the War of 1812

Manuscript DS, signed “A. Burr,” one page both sides, 8.25 x 12.5, September 1, 1815. A legal document requesting the court appoint a guardian ad litem for William Bradwell, "an infant…[who] cannot answer the said Bill nor defend this suit without having a guardian assigned for that purpose.” In very good condition, with tape repairs to separations along horizontal folds, scattered light toning and soiling, and two light lines through beginning of signature from mirroring of ink. Burr eventually took this case to the New York Supreme Court, where he lost. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
